The Rua Chak Phra Festival held by the southern locals, which has been influenced by the Hindus’ ritual in India since Buddha’s era . Normally this event come after Wan Ook Pansa or the Final Day of the Lental Season or 4-12 November located in Nathonon Koh Samui during that week. Meaning of Rua is boats, Chak means to pull and Phra means Buddha statue. There will be cars dressed up like boats that are pulled around in the neighborhood of each temple in the week. It's a very interesting event cause Buddhist belief that during Phansa the Buddha went up to Heaven to preach to his mother's spirit. The day of his return to Earth is called "Ok Phansa" and the festival marks that date.
