Rub Song Ta Yay Festival the same with one of the famous festivals for southern people in Thailand like Sart Duen Sib (Yearly Big Merit on October). Rub Song mean send and pick up, Ta Yay mean Grandfather and grandmother. Samui adapted this ritual via Nakhon Sithammarat mainly is to give offerings for the spirit of the dead person, ancestors, ghosts and devils, for they would receive portions of merit even in heaven or in hell to be in peace, free from sufferings and gain happiness even more. Another purpose of the ceremony is to shows their love, missing and respect to the ancestors.
